As everyone knows the newest Bond film has been released and
it’s on everyone lips. This year we see the 50th anniversary of the
Bond franchise and the wardrobe designers have not let us down. Jany Temine- costume designer for Skyfall
created the fantastic black gown worn by Berenice Marlohe. This isn’t just any
ordinary dress though, with over 60,000 crystals applied by hand, it took
around 6 months to make! The dress is worn for the first scene where Severine
(Malohes’ character) meets Mr Bond himself.
All the Bond girls flaunt their good looks and perfect
features, and this dress is perfect to show them off. Severine first appears
with her back to the screen, so the first thing we see is the tattoo effects on
her back making her look naked, which we all know, Bond girls normally wear the
minimal amount.
Our first Bond girl in Dr No, Ursula Andress, is seen in the
iconic white bikini. This is then replicated with Halle Berry in Die Another
Day.
Jany Temine also chose dresses from British designer Amanda
Wakely, to suit the made in London theme. These dresses are seen on M, played by
Judi Dench and Naomie Harris, who plays undercover agent Eve. Again suiting the
Bond girl theme, Naomie looks fantastic in the golden strapless maxi dress,
which really enhances her body shape, much like the dress Severine wears in the
Casino.
